Summary: Mark Cohen and Mimi Marquez (of Rent) go on a picnic

  Zoom in. The girl smiles into the camera.  Snap.


  Mark smiled.


  Focus on her smile.  Snap.  Beautiful. The sun is stunning against her rosy cheeks. Focus.  Focus on her rosy cheeks, she's healthy.   


  "Come on, honey," Mimi said patting the place next to her on the blanket.  


  Adjusting the camera on it's tripod, he didn't want to miss a moment of this day, Mark joined her on the blanket and kissed her cheek. "You're so beautiful," he said shyly.  


  She reached for a grape and popped it into her mouth.  


  Their hands met reaching for the same grape, Mark let her take it and then took one for himself.  He lay on his back the sun felt so good, it was nice to get out of the loft for a change. Another smile from Mimi brought Roger to his mind, Mark closed his eyes.  It had been almost seven months since his best friend's death.  Is this what you wanted, Roger? Am I taking care of her the way you wanted? Is it wrong that I've fallen in love with her?


  "Do you think they have days like this in heaven?"  


  Mark swallowed hard.  He hadn't expected a question like that.  Twenty-two and still so much like a child.   Blinking furiously at the tears in his eyes, Mark sat up and put his arm around her tightly.  "Oh Mimi..." he kissed her softly on the lips.    


  A rain drop hit her nose in mid-kiss.  “It’s raining,” she smiled, staring into his blue eyes.


  “So?” Mark asked, a shy grin on his face.  


  They kissed again not minding that they were getting soaked from the summer shower.
